cityLIFE '08
Why cityLIFE ’08?
If Christians want to transform not just individuals but cultures and
societies, we would strategically want to reach the cities. For us,
our context is Philadelphia – a city of contrasts where the rich and
the poor, the educated and the illiterate, the connected and the
marginalized, the healthy and the frail all live right next to each other.
Ever since the very beginning of this church, God has been assembling
a ten-talent congregation at Renewal and calling us to live sacrificially
and missionally. We have a chance to take part in a movement that will
reveal the gospel to the elite and the disenfranchised alike, and thus
proclaiming the glory of Jesus Christ.
The purpose of cityLIFE ’08 is to educate the congregation of this
calling. It’ll be a wonderful opportunity to learn and draw out the
implications for your own life in the city.

SATURDAY (11.8)
All events will be meeting/starting at Renewal Church (48th & Spruce):
cityWALK: Morning Prayer (9:00-11:00am) --- A time of prayer all
throughout the city. There will be 6 separate groups: 1) Business/Political
2) Educational 3) Healthcare System 4) West Philly 5)
Culture/Entertainment 6) Chinatown. If you would like to participate, please
register for cityWALK and you will receive an email information of all 6 prayer groups
to choose from.
citySEARCH: Learn the City! (12:00-3:00pm) --- A scavenger hunt
designed for teams to get to know our surroundings, city, people, history,
and culture. Prizes will be given to winning teams! citySERVICE: Kensington CAPA School (12:00-4:00pm) --- (Max: 15 People).
Help with the maintenance with the school; painting, cleaning, organizing, etc. citySERVICE: Whosever Gospel Germantown (12:00-4:00pm) --- (Max: 15 people).
The Whosoever Gospel Mission is a Christian nonprofit organization whose purpose is
to provide shelter, food, clothing, education, counseling, rehabilitation and other
assistance to homeless and/or needy men, women and children in the Philadelphia
Metropolitan Area. A chance to serve with the staff of Whosever Gospel.
The cityLIFE '08 team would greatly appreciate it if those who intend to participate
in an activity on Saturday to register for the event, as a limitation exists on some of
the activities.
