Get Connected: Post-College Group

Spring 2008: 20s & 30s Small Group Listing
The small group ministry exists to nurture and mature members in the context of intimate community and to serve as a place where new members can be brought into the church and introduced to Christ. Our small groups meet regularly on Friday evenings as we share our lives with one another, pray for one another, dig into the Word, and build each other up in the Lord. We believe that these groups are vital for the development and maturation of Christians. Our small groups are organized by location, and we also have a few focus groups to choose from. Come and see how God is moving in our lives, click HERE to read more about Renewal's Small Group Ministry and its vision.

Center City (Art Museum) Small Group

Small Group Leader: Pastor Dwight Yoo

Location Description: The Art Museum area is also referred to as the Fairmount section of Philadelphia (named for the hill upon which the Philadelphia Museum of Art stands). Fairmount is just north of the museum. It borders the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philly's version of the Champs Elysées and Fairmount Park, the largest urban park in the world. In this sense it's an area that symbolizes rich and diverse culture. Likewise, our small group is diverse and consists of people from all walks of life. (Married, Singles, Families, Working, Students, those who live in the city and those from the 'burbs'.) This provides a wonderful opportunity to learn from one another, build each other up and share in genuine Gospel-centered community. Please join us on Friday nights at 7pm for food (physical and spiritual) and fellowship!

For more information, contact Pastor Dwight Yoo

Center City (Chinatown) Small Group

Small Group Leader: Pastor Won Ho Kim

Location Description: Chinatown has a rich cultural heritage, from great cheap eats to the Convention Center to...the Center City/Chinatown small group!!! We definitely are not the most cultured people in the world, since bowling is by far our favorite pastime. But what we lack in culture, we make up for in our love for one another, our quick and clever wit, and our desire to grow in the grace of Jesus Christ. Come join us on Fridays (and Saturdays and Tuesdays and Sundays) as we grow in our faith, particularly as it concerns finding a parking spot in Chinatown. Seriously, we would love to have you join us as we strive for deep relationships with one another in order that we may experience Christ together.

City Ave "Salt" Small Group

Small Group Leader: Judy Ha

Location Description: City Ave is where city and suburb intersect and our small group represents that unique mixture of young adults studying and working to make an impact in this world. Some of us live or work in the city and some of us live or work in the suburbs. Though we come in with different backgrounds and callings, we meet once a week on City Ave where we can bridge the differences and are united through Christ into one family.

Our group believes we are called to be Salt and Light wherever God has placed us. We meet together to be renewed through the study of the word and to have fellowship with one another. We want to be the salt of the earth that preserves God's word and ways and we desire to be a body of believers who create a 'thirst' to know more about Christ and to live for His eternal kingdom.

For more information, contact Judy Ha

City Ave Small Group

Small Group Leaders: Eric Jan, Lawrence Lee

Location Description: Hello Renewal! We've named ourselves "El Grupo de City Ave" because we are the small group of City Avenue and we love Hispanic Heritage Month. We're located in the northwestern suburban communities of Bala Cynwyd, Merion Station, and Penn Wynne... but there's nothing suburban about this group. We're here to be the salt, light, and some salsa to our world as we grow together in our relationship with Christ.

For more information, contact Eric Jan and Lawrence Lee

Delaware County Small Group

Small Group Leaders: Tim Lee, Julia Park

Location Description: The Delaware County Small Group consists of members who live in both Delaware County, PA and in the first state, Delaware. These areas can be called home for many celebrities such as Pat Croce, Tina Fey, Seth Green, Jamie Kennedy, Cheri Oteri, Vince Papale, Elisabeth Shue, and Ryan Phillippe, but our top celebrity focus is on Jesus Christ! Not even the 3:1 ratio of chickens to humans in Delaware is as impressive as the one we focus on each Friday. Come join us as we look to experience more of Him.

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." (1 Peter 4:10)

For more information, contact Tim Lee and Julia Park

East Falls Small Group

Small Group Leader: Pastor Young Lee

Location Description: East Falls is a hidden little area right in between Manayunk and Cityline. We usually meet either in East Falls or somewhere right off of City Ave. We're a group consisting of singles and married couples and we meet every Friday night at 7. Our desire is to see everyone filled once again to the full measure of Christ. We want people to continually develop a greater hunger for God and community through our times together. We ALWAYS eat very well and love to have a great time! Come on out!

For more information, contact Pastor Young Lee

Mt. Airy Small Group

Small Group Leaders: Anne Sung, Dave Kong

Location Description: Mt. Airy is located in Northwest Philadelphia near Chestnut Hill and Manayunk. It's a 20 minute drive to Center City, King of Prussia, Plymouth Meeting, and Conshohocken. Mt. Airy has lots of mom-and-pop-style shops and eateries, with a small-town feel. It has many residents of advanced degrees and affluence. Even the inventor of the game Monopoly lived here!

We are a group of 20s & 30s singles and married couples that meet in Mt.Airy/Cityline Ave. We seek to be a genuine christian community that applies God's word into our lives, for life transformation. As we discover and use our gifts and talents, we seek to build each other up in our small group and church. We have weekly bible studies on Fridays @ 7 pm in various homes.

For more information, contact Anne Sung and Dave Kong

Inductive Bible Study (West Philly) Small Group

Small Group Leaders: Jeremy Fahringer, Tze Wei Choo, Heran Park

Topical Description: Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. - Ephesians 6:13 NASB

Knowing God through his Word, studying the Bible inductively for life transformation, seeing the parts of the Bible in context and in the bigger picture of God¹s plan, gaining the tools to study the whole Bible for the rest of our lives, to build our faith upon the truth.

We feel led to continue this small group toward the next things that God has for us. This group should be a place where we can grow together toward God, ask questions, and be equipped to know him more. Our group can build on the foundations that God has put in place as we inductively study the bible, book by book, in its entirety.

For more information, contact Jeremy Fahringer, Tze Wei Choo, and Heran Park

Perspectives: A Window into Christianity
(Upper Darby) Small Group

Small Group Leaders: Jae Sim, Sarah Kim Lee, Min Lee

Topical Description: This year we plan to do an overview of the Bible. By examining the Bible in this manner, we hope to see and understand the Author of it all. And hope that through His story of redemption, we see the overwhelming beauty of God's character. If this is your first experience with God or you want to re-examine your walk with Him, definitely please join us. We're very excited to discuss, share and grow together as a group so that, ultimately we will see His story, as our story.

For more information, contact Jae Sim, Sarah Kim Lee, and Min Lee

Women's Group (Center City) Small Group

Small Group Leaders: Lora Erickson, Jane Huang

Topical Description: We are women who study the Word. We desire to share life together, encouraging each other in our pursuit of Christ. We want to give life to the people God's put around us... by serving our city and one another. We are participating in the same activities and studies of the Sermon on the Mount as the other groups, and hope that being a group of all sisters will help build an extra level of authenticity and transparency and enable us to go deeper in accountability and intimacy.
